Brazos County Constable, Brian Bachmann was shot and killed Monday in College Station.  As a wife and mother, my heart is broken for the Bachmann family.  I’d love for this community here at BCS Families to rally around the Bachmanns during this tragic time. Words fail at moments like this.  I’m not sure what to say to a woman who has lost her husband or to children who have lost their father.  This family’s life will be altered forever.  What we can do is show our love and gratitude as they grieve.  I’m asking our BCS Families community to bless the Bachmann family with gift cards to local eating establishments in Bryan-College Station.  We would like to help lighten the load for this family as they walk through this difficult time.  As a result of generous gifts from local families and local restaurants, I’m hoping the Bachmanns won’t need to expend any energy thinking about dinner for the next few months.  Thank you in advance for your willingness to reach out to this family in this particular way.  Families supporting families is one of the benchmarks of a healthy community.  I’m grateful for the ways we see those principles lived out in the Brazos Valley.

I’m in the process of contacting local restaurants to see if they will match the dollar amounts of the gift certificates purchased for the Bachmann family.  For the next two weeks, this community of readers can purchase gift certificates from our list of participating restaurants.  When you purchase your gift certificate for the Bachmann family, the restaurant will match your donation dollar-for-dollar.  The gift certificates you purchase for the Bachmanns will remain at the restaurants.  I’ll pick up those gift certificates from local eating establishments in two weeks and deliver them to the church where the Bachmann family attends.  The church will pass along the gift certificates to the family.

I’ll be adding to the list of local restaurants as I confirm their participation.  Until August 29, the following restaurants are matching the dollar amounts of gift certificates purchased for the Bachmann family (for example – you purchase a $20 gift card, the family receives a $40 gift card from the restaurant):

Fowl Digits

Fuzzy’s Taco Shop

Caffé Capri

Carter’s Burger

Fuego Tortilla Grill

Blue Baker

Firehouse Subs

Dixie Chicken

Chicken Oil Co.

Shipwreck Grill

Wings N More – University Location ONLY.

Applebee’s

We’d also like to take this moment to express our gratitude to the men and women who serve our community through the College Station Police Department and Bryan Police Department.  Days like today remind us of the risk you take and the sacrifices your families make in order for our families and communities to remain safe.  As you grieve a lost friend, we hope you feel loved, supported, and appreciated by your community.  Thank you.

  1. Brilliant idea! Thanks for setting this up.

  2. I hope the family of the other victim isn’t forgotten.

    • I agree with Brenda. I spoke with a friend who knows the Bachmann’s and her suggestion was to seek out the Northcliff family to help them. Law enforcement families do a great job supporting each other, and due to the nature of the job there are networks for them. But not for families like the Northcliffs.

Will someone please seek to provide this same generosity to the family of Chris Northcliff?

  3. Hi! This is a great idea! As an Aggie and daughter-in-law of a police officer, I would like to contribute to this cause. Is there any way to do this online? Paypal acct.? Thanks!

  4. That is a great idea, Rachel and something we can do really easily. We’ll set up the account and post the information tonight.

  5. I cannot even imagine the pain and loss that this family is going through at this time. I, along with my brother, own Twin Brothers Lawn Care and service all areas of the Brazos Valley. I would like to offer our services to this family, for free, so that they may dedicate their time to their lost loved one and the healing process. Heather, please contact me at 979-676-3690 so we may get this taken care of and discuss other ways to help. God bless!

  6. Thanks, Brad. I’ll call you tomorrow.

    Grateful for you guys..

  7. This is such a great idea! I was just thinking about a way to help this family. Will you also be trying to arrange something for Justin Oehlke or the lady ( I couldn’t find the name)? As I am sure this will be tough on them as well with surgeries and recovery.

  8. Is the Northcliff family receiving anything?

  9. Went through Dickey’s this morning for breakfast. Mentioned that you were doing this for the victim’s family. Manager/owner? said that he would love to help so you might contact him.

  10. Thanks, Kathie. I’ll call him.

  11. The Northcliffe Family deserves similar help. Chris and his wife Christy have been life long residence of our community. They have two teenage children. Christy is a special needs teacher in the Bryan School system. Chris was an incredible father and husband. He was a frequent volunteer in the community. These efforts are commendable. I hope that the Northcliffes will we included. Thanks to the organizer and to all the participating Restaurants.

  12. Thanks Hugh. I’m working right now to find out which organizations are reaching out to the Northcliffe family. I’ll provide links as soon as I get the information. If anyone has details about organizations, businesses, or groups organizing gifts for the Northcliffe family, please send me the information to bcsfamilies@gmail.com. I’ll pass along the details to our readers.

  14. What an awesome community we live in! For the next 2 weeks, I will visit participating restaurants exclusively. I’d also like to add my wish that the Northcliff family is included.

  15. I am the District Manager for DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks here in the Brazos Valley . . . I’d like to help in this endeavor for Brian’s family or the Northcliffs. If you could email me at ddpizzajoe@gmail.com I’d be interested to hear the details. Thank you for doing this.

  16. Will the admin of this please consider the Northcliff family as well?

    • She is trying to figure out who is reaching out to the Northcliff family. If you know anything please send her an email.

  17. Sarah,

While we understand that many have been affected by yesterday’s shooting, I am pretty spent coordinating this effort for the Bachmann family. Unfortunately, when I called restaurants yesterday to ask them to participate, I didn’t have any reliable information about how to best help the Northcliff family. I’m hoping other organizations and groups in our community will reach out to the other families affected by the shooting. As soon as I receive any details regarding ways to give and support the Northcliffs I will gladly publicize the efforts and encourage our readers to get involved. While I can’t commit to coordinating the events at this time, I will do whatever I can to help spread the word.

  18. I’ve heard that the Hullabaloo diner would like to participate. You may try contacting them.

  19. Please contact Bobby Schoen, who is the GM of Raising Cains there. He is my nephew and is always looking for worthy causes to help out.

  20. The law enforcement community is a very close knit community and does a very good job of taking care of their own. Case in point is the 100 club that gave them $20k today. The Sheriff’s Office will be looking after Debbie and the kids for quite a while. I don’t want to take away from Brian’s family but they are and will be well taken care of. The other victim is part of this community too and deserves some of the same treatment being shown to Brian’s family.

  21. I *completely* agree with the sentiment.

I *disagree* that these efforts are focused only on Bachman. There were 3 other people shot in this incident – and they are going to need assistance as well.

  22. Thank you for your wonderful acts of kindness toward the families. It must be extremely exhausting, please don’t get discouraged.

  23. The Chloe brand name first appeared in Paris in 1952 when Gaby Aghion, a 31 yr old Egyptian fashion designer created her 1st ready to wear fashion range and adopted the Chloe label name to identify her new products. Previous to the release of Chloe, fashion houses had focussed on made to measure clothes which was obviously really pricey and was only obtained by the rich. With the launch of fashion wear that could be manufactured in bulk in a number of sizes, the Chloe selection of design merchandise opened the designer fashion sector for the general public. Gaby diverged from the formal design merchandise of the 1950s and manufactured a range of prime quality, delicate, body conscious garments that proved to be an immediate triumph. Luxurious, romantic and un-mistakenly French, Chloe continues to this day to manufacture ready to wear stylish clothing and accessories for women the world over. oakley oil rig sunglasses
