We headed to the library this morning to sign up for the Summer Reading Program.  First the kids asked to ring the bell in front of the library.  In case you are wondering, the bell is as loud as it looks.  Thirty minutes later I think I could still hear it ringing.

Each of the boys signed up for the summer reading program.  The process was really easy.  Families can either go to the library and sign up in person or register online.

After signing up, the kids received a Reading Log.  Reading Logs are available for children as well as for tweens and teens.  Kids are encouraged to color sections of their reading log every day they read (or days when someone reads to them).  In order to win prizes, they need to read for 15 days (to receive a halfway prize) and 30 days (to receive a final prize).  They do not have to read 15 or 30 days in a row…just 15 or 30 days total.  Parents and guardians are welcome to read aloud to their children as well.  The Summer Reading Program is such a great way to encourage kids to read during the summer months.

Are you getting excited about all the fantastic events the Bryan-College Station libraries are hosting this summer?  We sat down this weekend and began filling in our summer calendar.  Library events make up the bulk of our summer plans.  We hope to see your families at the library this summer!

  2. A fantastic way to reach families in B-CS. Friends can share the site with friends. Word of text is our best way to reach others of the libraries’ powerful summer reading program.
